Ostego Bay hosts Marine Summer Camp

Ostego Bay Foundation Marine Science Center is offering another exciting and educational season of summer camps for children ages 6 and upward:

– Sea Stars Camp (ages 6-8) from June 28 – July 2; and from July 26-30

– Loggerheads Camp (ages 9-11) from July 19-23; and from Aug. 2-6

– Tiger Sharks Camp (ages 11 and up) from July 12-16

All instructional materials will be provided plus a graduation luncheon will be held on the final day of camp. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Come and explore the beautiful barrier islands and the waters of Estero Bay. Field and beach trips will introduce campers to sea grass communities, plankton populations, mangrove tangles and bird nesting areas. The staff of state certified teachers offers a wide diversity of expertise providing highly personalized instruction.

The Marine Science Center is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $5 for adults and $2 for students. Children age 5 and under get in free.

The Ostego Bay Foundation is a 501C3 non-profit organization. The Marine Science Center provides interactive educational experiences for children and adults. The touch tank and aquariums hold various local marine life and the exhibits provide a personal understanding of the Southwest Florida marine environment.
