When sirens blast behind you, yield to the right
This is a difficult week for traffic and for those stuck in it trying to enjoy the sun and fun of Fort Myers Beach. FMB Fire Chief Mike Becker says when an emergency vehicle approaches, it’s important to make sure one yields to the right.
“We will not go to the right of you, when we’re going over that bridge,” said Becker. “Everyone must move over to the trolley lane when you here an emergency vehicle approaching. It’s the only way we can see oncoming traffic. We have to be able to see that to be safe. The worst thing you can do is come to a stop. Of course, pedestrians should refrain from crossing the street at that time.”
