Deputy Dale Conn – In The Line Of Duty Death

Today, April 9, 2010, members of the Lee County Sheriff’s will join family, friends and citizens in honoring fallen Deputy Dale Conn. The 61-year old veteran law enforcement officer had been hospitalized since Monday, March 26, 2010 when he suffered a major medical event while faithfully carrying out his duties serving civil process. He passed a week later, Monday, April 5, 2010.

Funeral arrangements have been finalized.A public viewing will be held at McGregor Baptist Church, 3750 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida, beginning at 1 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. A motorcade will escort Deputy Conn to his final resting place at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens where a full-honors service will take place including a 21-gun salute; the playing of Taps; and, a helicopter flyover.

Deputy Conn served with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for a total of twelve years. Most recently, he was assigned to the Civil Division. Over the past four decades, the community-minded servant also worked with the Florida Highway Patrol, Fort Myers Police Department and Fort Myers Fire Department. He is survived by his wife of thirty-five years, four children and five grandchildren. The family asks, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be sent to the Blue Line Fund in care of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, 14750 Six-Mile Cypress Parkway, Fort Myers, FL 33912.

Motorists can expect delays between the hours of 4 and 5 p.m., as the funeral procession travels west on Colonial Boulevard from

the church to the cemetery.
