Beach Chamber Foundation to offer scholarship

2 min read

For the 20th year, the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce Foundation will offer scholarships to students who desire to continue with their higher education program.

“We are so very pleased to continue to be able to do this for our area students,” said Foundation President Fran Myers. “Anyone interested is asked to pick up an application form at the Beach Foundation office located at 17200 San Carlos Blvd. or to call 454-7500 and a form will be mailed to them.”

The Beach Chamber Foundation was established in 1985 and was the first Chamber Foundation formed in the State of Florida. Since that time, besides awarding scholarships, the foundation has made grants to the Beach Elementary School, Bay Oaks Recreational Center and the annual Spirit of the Holidays program. It has kept the flags up in Lynn Hall Memorial Park and is a supporter for the “Do The Right Thing” program of the Lee County Sheriff Department.

“Our grants to the Beach Elementary School has helped in the purchase of much needed equipment such as computers, video and school supplies,” Myers said.

The deadline for the return of the Scholarship Applications is 5 p.m. Friday, May 28, and the scholarships will be awarded in July at the Chamber luncheon.
