1 min read

On Friday, May 7, 2010, at 12:00 noon, in conjunction with the Florida Anthropological Society’s annual meeting in Fort Myers, archaeologists Marion Almy and Lee Hutchinson of Archaeological Consultants, Inc. will lead a 45-minute walking tour of downtown historic Fort Myers, focusing on the site of the U.S. Military cemetery once associated with Seminole Forts Myers and Harvie. They will share excavation photos, maps, artifacts, and stories about the discovery of burials by ACI in 1992 for the Florida Department of Transportation, then lead participants to other nearby locales where the city’s history lies buried.

The tour is free and intended for the general public; however, space is limited and reservations for the tour are required. Reservations can be made by calling the Florida Public Archaeology Network Southwest Regional Center at 765-0202 (ext. 152).

For additional information and reservations, contact Steve Archer, the director of the Southwest Regional Center for Florida Public Archaeology Network at 765-0202 (ext. 152).
