Visit Estero Lagoon Preserve

1 min read

A Lee County bird patrol guide will take you on a tour of Estero Lagoon Preserve on Fort Myers Beach on Saturday, March 27, at 8 a.m. Meet in the Northwest corner of Santini Plaza parking lot just south of Holiday Inn.

Expect to walk two or three hours and see shorebirds, wading birds, gulls, terns and possibly a peregrine falcon. Wear beach shoes for possible wading. Bring binoculars, sun protection, bottled water, and your love of nature. This event is provided in cooperation with Lee County Parks and Recreation. Free to the public. Restrooms. For more information, call 542-6007.

Estero Lagoon Preserve is only one of 15 Florida wildlife refuges designated a “Critical Wildlife Area” because it is an important over-wintering area for at least 68 species of shore and wading birds. During spring and fall migrations, this is one of the stopping points for the millions of shorebirds that make the journey.
