Sippin’ Tea by the Sea for Ostego Bay center
It’s tea time for a good cause. The Ostego Bay Foundation will host ‘Tea By The Sea’ from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, at 700 Fisherman’s Wharf on San Carlos Island right next door to Bonita Bill’s Restaurant. All proceeds will benefit the Ostego Bay Foundation Marine Science Center.
The annual ‘Tea By The Sea’ event will feature an indoor tea party, a fashion show and a Chinese auction for two hours of fun and festivities.
“It’s a lot of fun,” said Joanne Semmer, the event coordinator. “We’re going to have our china cups and saucers and tea pots, Every table will be decorated differently. All the women are encouraged to dress up and wear their tea hats. It will be very eclectic.”
Tickets are $20 per individual or $70 for a table of four. Call Ostego Bay at 765-8101 to purchase them in advance. Sign up with a small circle of friends to get your own signature table.
While patrons enjoy the regular tea fare involving finger foods such as sandwiches, dainty desserts and the distinctive flavor and aroma of Earl Grey tea, there will be a fashion show involving clothing supplied by Local Color and local ladies Cathy Goodacre-Lee, Amanda Marchand, Sharalee Dias and Judy Cultice modeling specific outfits.
The Chinese auction entails selling raffle tickets for prizes.
“We’ll have the items out there with a container in front of each one,” said Semmer. “You take your ticket and drop it in whichever item you would like to win, and we draw from that bag.”
Come and support the non-profit organization. As of last Thursday, Ostego Bay had sold roughly half of the tickets for the event.
“This is our annual tea,” said Semmer. We do it every year. If anybody would like to volunteer to set the tables, we can sure use the help.”
