Lee Sheriff’s Office Selected As Flagship Agency
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has been selected as a flagship agency by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. A flagship agency represents an extraordinary example of excellence in public safety.
CALEA accreditation strengthens an agency’s accountability through a continuum of standards that clearly define authority, performance and responsibilities. It promotes the efficient use of resources -comprehensive, well-thought out written directives- and improved relationships with the community.
According to CALEA program manager Steve Mitchell, “CALEA flagship agencies are really the cream of the crop. They have clean assessments and have something to bring to the table. In fact, they are the ones we want all other agencies to emulate.”
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is one of 22 agencies nationwide to receive the current flagship designation and will receive its certificate on March 27 in Dallas.
