Garden club visits nature center
On March 15, members of the Estero Island Garden Club took a naturalist-guided tour at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida nature center in Naples. The nature center included a serpentarium, where members were welcomed to stroke some of the non-poisonous snakes; an aquarium and a beach scene with a sea turtle’s nest; and a re-creation of a panther habitat, along with a mother panther and her cubs.
After touring the nature center, members went on a narrated boat cruise on the Gordon River. Garden club members departed with a new appreciation for southwest Florida’s natural treasures and a renewed interest in protecting its environment.
The next meeting of the garden club will be the Annual Spring Luncheon at the Luna Rossa Restaurant on April 4. Installation of new officers will take place at this meeting, and guests are welcome. For more information, call 463-4102.
