Visit Gator Hole Preserve with Bird Patrol

Bird Patrol, in conjunction with Lee County Parks and Recreation, will be giving a free tour of Gator Hole Preserve at 14291 Corkscrew Road in Estero on Saturday, Feb. 20, at 8 a.m. No registration necessary.

The Preserve lies along the edge of a 60,000-acre wildlife corridor that includes Flint Pen Strand, Imperial Marsh and Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed lands. The seasonal wetlands, surrounded by intact upland communities are of particular importance to amphibians and birds residing at the preserve.

The preservecan be located from I-75, Exit 123. Drive 4.1 miles east on Corkscrew Rd. As you pass the Bella Terra development on the right, look for the Gator Hole parking area on the left.

Be prepared. There are no restrooms. One can see white-tailed deer, gopher tortoises, swallow-tailed kites, eastern bluebirds, raptors, warblers, nuthatches.
