Town gives plaques of appreciation to Coldwell Banker and Harbour House
At the Fort Myers Beach Town Council meeting Tuesday evening, two plaques were given out to Beach businesses for their monetary support of Bay Oaks recreational Campus.
“The Town of Fort Myers Beach would like to recognize some folks who have come forward and made some very generous donations to the town’s newly acquired Bay Oaks Recreational Campus,” said Bay Oaks Recreation Manager Nicole Olsen. Olsen first gave recognition to Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate which gave a $1,600 donation to Bay Oak’s teen program.
“At Coldwell Banker, we have the option to give a portion of our commissions to what is called the Coldwell Banker Cares Foundation,” said Coldwell Banker Realtor Ron Turrisi. “(Realtor) Mary Jo (Bowers-Turrisi) and myself would like to keep that here at Bay Oaks.”
Olsen then recognized Harbour House for turning their grand opening party into a $4,000 benefit for Bay Oaks senior and youth programs.
“We’re glad to be a part of the community, and we really appreciate all that Bay Oaks does for Fort Myers Beach,” said Harbour House Principal Developer Doug Speirn-Smith. “They offer a great diverse set of programs.”
Town Manager Terry Stewart recommended a recognition format should be utilized for such situations.
“As we prepared to make this presentation this evening, a suggestion was made that we might want to put together a recognition format for people who are kind enough to support programs that are on the island by giving, perhaps, silver, gold and platinum plaques that would indicate the level of donation that someone would make,” he said.
On a side note, FMB Town Clerk Michelle Mayher was congratulated by everyone in council chambers for becoming an official certified municipal clerk after recently receiving verification for completing all necessary requirements.
