Local Garden club hosts orchid grower

Jerry Meola, owner of Pelican Coast Farms in Fort Myers, is an organic grower of orchids. On Feb. 15, Jerry made a presentation to the Estero Island Garden Club on growing orchids organically and terrestrial orchids in trees. He brought with him many examples of the beautiful orchids that he grows in his nursery and gave detailed instruction on growing orchids successfully, whether they are in pots or in trees. His practical advice on how to grow orchids served to de-mystify the process of growing these seemingly fragile and delicate flowers.
