Ambassador Senninger attends events in Bonita Springs

Luxembourg Ambassador to the U.S. Jean-Paul Senninger, from Washington DC will arrive in Bonita Springs Sunday, Feb. 7, for a private reception then will attend two European American Network events on Tuesday, February 9th at Bonita Bay.

On Sunday, Ambassador Senninger will install Mr. Donald J. Hansen, a resident of Estero, as Head of Post, to serve as Honorary Consul General for the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg here in the state of Florida. Mr. Hansen held the same Post in the states of Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin for the past 15 years. Six years ago, the Hansens purchased a home in Estero and became permanent residents as of this year.

In addition, Mrs. Hansen, Gerda M. Hansen, has been appointed by the Austrian government and the US State Department to serve as Honorary Consul for the country of Austria. She has been her husband’s right arm, serving as Cultural and Public Affairs Officer in his Luxembourg Post during his tenure in the Midwest. The Honorable Gernot Wiedner, Consul General of Austria in Washington DC will be installing her to her new Post at the same time as Mr. Hansens Installation. The couple is very well versed on consular affairs and is known to be very active in Midwestern diplomatic circles.

Ambassador Senninger and Mrs. Hansen will present a program on the European Union from the Luxembourg prospective as well as enhance understanding of the EU rotating Presidency and the Lisbon Treatys effect. The program is scheduled for Tuesday at 11:30 by an initiative from the EAN (European American Network). Luncheon will be served.
