Shell Point hosts speaker series

Shell Point Retirement Community’s second annual Speaker Series will begin in January, according to Dawn Boren, director of resident life for Shell Point. All residents of Southwest Florida are invited to attend, but tickets are required. This series will feature the following presenters on the dates and times listed below:

– Thursday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m.

Blue Zones: Unlocking the Secret of a Long Life

Dan Buettner, World Renown Explorer and National Geographic Writer

– Friday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m.

Keeping Your Brain Young: The Intersection of Science and Lifestyle

Gary Small, M.D., Professor of Psychiatric and Biobehavioral Sciences

– Thursday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m.

Religion, Spirituality and Health

Dr. Harold G. Koenig, Founding Co-Director of the Center for Spirituality, Theology and Health

“The first Speaker Series at Shell Point was a great success, and our residents and visitors asked to have this continue as an annual event,” said Boren. “We are excited to offer the community the opportunity to listen to three very different speakers as they offer insight into the Mind, Body, and Soul.”

The presentations will be held in The Village Church auditorium on the Island at Shell Point on three different nights, January through February. Tickets may be purchased for individual speaker presentations at $30 each, or the entire speaker series can be purchased as a package for $75, offering a savings of $15.
