Positively Baroque concert at Peace Lutheran Church
A Positively Baroque concert of the 17th and 18th centuries will take place Sunday, Jan. 10, at Peace Lutheran Church, 15840 McGregor Blvd. (Fort Myers), at 7 p.m., featuring Elizabeth Spang on transverse flute, Be Engler on soprano, Suzanne Ferguson on soprano and bass gamba, Roy Engler on baritone and bass gamba, Chad Brodbeck on violin, Sue Groskreutz on recorder, and Lynn Kraehling on organ and harpsichord.
The program includes a sacred vocal duet by J.S. Bach; the secular “The Shepherd and the Nymph” duet by Monteverdi; recorder divisions by Jacob van Eyck; a Handel violin sonata; G.P. Telemann’s Epiphany cantata for baritone, flute and organ; and Telemann’s Paris Quartet in G #1 (Discover why a group of five players is considered a quartet).
A free will offering for Music and Ministry will be collected. A wine and cheese reception with the performers will immediately follow the concert. For more information, call 437-2599.
