Local garden club starts off the new year
On Jan. 4, the Estero Island Garden Club hosted Judy Gore, a flower show judge and a certified Floral Design Instructor. Judy has made many prize-winning miniature arrangements and has been invited to judge flower shows both in Florida and South America. While discussing the principles of flower design, Judy showed examples she had made in order to illustrate the fine points of miniature floral arrangement.
At the next meeting of the Estero Island Garden Club, Marti Daltry will make a presentation on “Red Tide and Coastal Pollution.” She is the Regional Conservation Organizer for the Florida Coastal Protection Campaign of the Sierra Club, Fort Myers Office. The presentation will be at 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 18, in the Community Room at Terra Mar Condominiums at 7100 Estero Boulevard (across from Santini Plaza.) All interested members of the public are welcome to attend. There will also be a Chinese auction of members’ own plants and flowers.
