Historic society Postcard Presentation

The Estero Island Historic Society will usher in the new year with a special “Post Card Presentation” entitled, “Capturing a Reflection of the Past” Monday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. at St. Raphael’s, 5601 Williams Drive, FMB.
“We are extremely proud of the extensive collection of post cards we have acquired from our members through the years,” said a historic society member. “Although many today can be acquired from eBay, most of ours are original and still have the one-cent or four-cent stamps for postage.”
A.J. Bassett and Ellie Bunting will be sharing some of these old post cards the Historic Society has collected over the years featuring “Vistas” of beautiful Estero Island.
The narrated slide show will highlight post cards from different periods of our history from the 1920s through the 1980s. Post cards will be available for sale in packets of six.
A discussion of “Vistas” will be an upcoming topic, which is part of the Historic Preservation Advisory Board’s future development for the town, as well as the current plaque designation for historic structures on the island.
