Florida’s Blood Centers teams up with Gator Country 101.9
Gator Country 101.9 is teaming up with Florida’s Blood Centers to help build the local blood supply. This Saturday, Southwest Florida’s No. 1 country radio station will broadcast live from FBC’s Ft. Myers branch to urge listeners to donate blood. All registered participants will receive a free ticket to the anticipated 25th Annual Chili cook-off event taking place on January 24th at the C.B. Smith Park in Pembroke Pines (while supplies last). The event will feature Sara Evans, Zac Brown and Montgomery Gentry, among other country music artists.
Attending Saturday’s blood drive will be Val and Scott from the Gator Country morning show. They will be on hand to greet listeners and to thank them for their life-saving donations. Donors will also receive a mini health checkup which includes evaluations of blood pressure, temperature, iron level and cholesterol.

Who: We need any person who has ever considered giving blood to please contact Florida’s Blood Centers. Blood donations help save the lives of people needing routine surgery, trauma patients, premature babies and cancer patients at local hospitals who depend on those donations for life-saving blood transfusions. The patient needing blood transfusions could be your neighbor, a family member or even yourself. Most donations will impact those patients within a few days. If you have ever donated blood or thought about it, now is the time to be a local hero and save lives in your community.

Every donation is separated into components in our region and will be transfused into a patient usually within 2 to 3 days.
Just one donation can save multiple lives, because it’s separated into components- Red Blood Cells, Plasma and Platelets, Clotting Factors and a host of pharmaceuticals.
