FBC gives $1 per blood donor toward Haitian Relief Fund
Blood Donors who give to Florida’s Blood Centers will also be helping the Haitian earthquake relief effort.
For everyone who attempts to donate blood between Saturday, Jan. 16 through Monday, Jan. 25, FBC will donate $1 to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. FBC is also donating more than 1,000 bottles of water to relief efforts.
The US Armed Services Blood Program is coordinating blood shipments to Haiti. FBC encourages our donors to give blood to make sure our supply here is adequate. If FBC is asked by the US Armed Services Blood Program to provide blood to Haiti, we will respond accordingly.
Blood donations help save the lives of trauma patients, premature babies, cancer patients and people needing surgery. Every donation benefits someone in our community. Anyone who is eligible to donate is encouraged to call 1-888-9DONATE for questions about donating blood. Donors should be at least 16 years old and weigh at least 102 pounds. There is no upper age limit. Check eligibility questions at www.floridasbloodcenters.org
