Beach Golf Open sees results
The 23rd annual Fort Myers Beach Open at the Fort Myers Beach Golf Club on Saturday, Jan. 16, was successful as far as benefits go. The golfing event donated a portion of its proceeds to the Beach Elementary School PTO.
The team from Red Coconut R.V. Park featuring Tom Myers, Bill Van Duzer, Dan Hughes and Mayor Larry Kiker captured first place in the men’s division, while Tracy and George Greer and Sheila and Scott Sheer took top honors in the mixed division.
PTO Volunteers who helped at the tournament included Tracey Gore, Cathy Trent and David “Cookie” Meza. According to Gore, many residents and companies who continually support the Beach School turned out to play like Mike Dagnese of MD Electric, Gary Holmes, Tom Myers, Bill Van Duzer, Team LaForce, Phil Freeman, Jesse and Vinny Titus, Bluebill, Dan Hughes, Mayor Larry Liker and more. Chamber President John Albion was there, as well as Lisa Reece, their event planner.
Gore said in a continuation of support for the Beach School, the Ostego Bay Foundation Marine Science Center allowed the local chamber office to borrow their tables for the luncheon which saved the Chamber from rental fees so that more money could be donated for the school.
The event sponsors included Extraordinary Event, Lani Kai Island Resort, The Greater Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce, Pink Shell Resort, Yucatan Beach Stand, Fort Myers Beach Golf Club, Fort Myers Beach Realty, ServiceMaster Clean, Southern Accents Barbecue and Catering, Bennett Chiropractic and Wellness Center, Esterra Spa and Salon, Accent Business Products, Best Western, Big “M” Casino Boat, Broadway Palm Dinner Theater, Century 21 Tri-Power, FMB Fire Department, Gilman Cioccia Accountants, Red Coconut RV Resort, Semmer Electric, Southwest Florida Distributing, West Coast Renovations, A Better Bugman and Heidrick & Co.
