Shell Point offers economic crisis forum

The public is invited to attend the seminar, Back From The Brink: An Unforgettable Brush With a Second Depression, sponsored by the Legacy Foundation at Shell Point Retirement Community and in coordination with The Academy at Shell Point. The seminar will take place on Thursday, Jan. 7, beginning at 7:15 p.m. in the Village Church auditorium located on The Island at Shell Point. The scheduled speaker is David Jones, President and CEO of DMJ Advisors, LLC, a Denver based consulting firm.

“This is an excellent opportunity for individuals to come out and hear about the current state of the national economy” said Teri Kollath, Manager of Academy and Volunteer Services. “Many of us have felt the impact of the recession. Dr. Jones will examine and discuss the future outlook. The Legacy Foundation and the Academy are very proud to have this presentation on property for anyone interested.”

David M. Jones is a highly regarded economist, educator and expert on U.S. Financial Markets. Dr. Jones has authored several books including the landmark classic book on Federal Reserve Policy, Fed Watching and Interest Rate Projections: A Practical Guide. His other works include: The Buck Starts Here: How the Federal Reserve Can Make or Break Your Financial Future; and Unlocking the Secrets of the Fed: How Monetary Policy Affects the Economy and Your Wealth-Creation Potential. Dr. Jones has also been quoted on CNN when an explanation from a qualified professional was needed. In this presentation he will bring us up to date on the national economy, as only he could explain it.

The Academy at Shell Point is a lifelong learning educational initiative for the residents of the retirement community. For three trimesters every year, The Academy provides a well-rounded curriculum of educational opportunities for senior adults. Anywhere from 70 to 90 classes take place per trimester. The Academy at Shell Point was also named as one of 2008’s most innovative active aging programs by the International Council on Active Aging, an association that supports professionals who develop wellness/ fitness facilities and services for age 50-plus adults.
