The Dairy Queen restaurant located at 1000 Estero Blvd. on Fort Myers Beach recently received a PRIDE Award from the company’s national office for achieving a high level of cleanliness and food safety. PRIDE stands for Personal Responsibility in Delivering Excellence.

“We feel honored to have received such a prestigious award,” said Beach Resident Dave Eichen, who with his wife, Tina, own the Beach DQ. “Our staff works hard to keep our restaurant at a high level of cleanliness to ensure that we provide a safe and enjoyable environment for our customers.”

This makes the second consecutive year that the Eichen’s Dairy Queen restaurant has been honored for the PRIDE Award, which is only given out to approximately 15 percent of the DQ stores in the nation. The award is delivered at the time of the PRIDE assessment, which can occur anytime throughout the year.

“We’re constantly sweeping the floors and cleaning,” said Tina Eichen. “We just have a good maintenance program, and we stick with it. It is especially hard for a grill and chill to get it two years in a row because you have both the ice cream area and the kitchen.”

The Eichen’s received immediate recognition for their hard work in the form of a framed certificate, showing a picture of the crew working at the time of the assessment. The certificate states that their Beach location achieved an Outstanding Cleanliness and Food Safety PRIDE check by setting up for success, giving the customer a reason to return and maintaining PRIDE.

“We’re pretty proud of the award,” said Dave Eichen. “There’s just a handful of Dairy Queens that receive this award. We just wanted everyone to know.”
