Fund-raising guru Michael DeCarlo is once again in the process of organizing the annual poker run to benefit local kids and local charity at First Baptist Church on Fort Myers Beach, scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 13, beginning at Junkanoo and hitting five stops along the way.

Of them, enjoy a ride to the Beached Whale, Miner’s Bar and Grill, Val’s Lounge and Liquors, and the Mermaid.

“Scooters are more than welcome to join on the run,” Michael said. “We haven’t done a scooter run in a long time and we’d appreciate all scooters.”

Don’t feel like taking the bike or scooter out that day, or do you just not have one? A charter bus is available to ride along in for $10, which takes you to all five stops and back.

And speaking of scooters, a very nice scooter is up for raffle, again, with all proceeds going to First Baptist Church on Fort Myers Beach.

Tickets to enter the scooter raffle are $10 each and the drawing will take place Sunday, Dec. 20 (must not be present to win).

To view what’s up for grabs, be sure to visit Beach Bowl (17651 San Carlos Blvd.).

Sign-up for the poker run is 10 a.m. Sunday, with the last bike out at 11 a.m.

“We’re always so thankful to the Beach community for lending their support in our charity poker runs,” Michael said. “Come on out, have a good time and help support a local cause.”

Of course, if attending the poker run, a donated unwrapped toy would happily accepted, which will also go to the local kids. Michael’s holding a wrapping party for all the toys on Friday, Dec. 18. Anyone wishing to volunteer should contact Junkanoo, 463-6139.
