2 min read

The public is invited to attend a presentation about the Uncommon Friends Foundation sponsored by The Academy at Shell Point Retirement Community. The seminar will be held on Monday, Nov. 30, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Grand Cypress Room, which is located in The Woodlands Commons at Shell Point. The scheduled presenter is Arlene Roth, Executive Director Uncommon Friends Foundation.

According to Teri Kollath, Manager of The Academy and Volunteer Services, the presentation will give attendees the chance to learn about the origins of the organization and how they can volunteer or participate with the Foundation.

Roth will share a brief history about the time the uncommon friends – Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, Alexis Carrel and Charles Lindbergh- spent together in Fort Myers, the founding of the foundation and its effect on our community now. The Uncommon Friends Foundation is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to lifelong character building among today’s youth and business leaders. Shell Point Retirement Community was honored to receive the Fourth Annual Uncommon Friends Foundation Business Ethics Award in 2009.

This event is free and open to the public; however, RSVPs are required since space is limited. For more information, please call Sue Earnhardt at (239) 454-2054.
