Ostego Bay Foundation will be holding its 11th annual Silent Auction and All-You-Can-Eat Fish Fry event. This event will be held on Friday, Dec. 4, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. (8 p.m. will be the announcing) at Bonita Bill’s Waterfront Cafe at 702 Fisherman’s Wharf.

There will be no cost to participate in the auction and $10 per person for the fish fry.

Donations of any items, services, and/or gift certificates which may be auctioned off will be greatly appreciated. If you would like to donate, please call the Ostego Bay Marine Science Center at 765-8101; Joanne Semmer at 470-4993; or email us at info@ostegobay.org for additional information or for pick-up.

“We have all these wonderful items like charter trips, jewelry, Red Sox spring training tickets, weekends at resorts, dinners and gift baskets,” said Joanne Semmer, president of Ostego Bay Foundation. “The bidding will go on until 7:30 p.m. Whoever has the highest bid at the end wins the item.”

The Ostego Bay Foundation Inc. is a local 501C (3) non-profit environmental educational organization and all donations are tax deductible. The Marine Science Center has been in operation since 1991 serving the Southwest Florida community and the local school systems.

The foundation has three functions: 1) the Marine Science Center works with the local school systems in five counties providing educational field trip opportunities along with a free written curriculum and a successful Marine Science Summer Camp for children of all ages; 2) In participation with ongoing research in partnership with the Estero Bay Marine Lab, the foundation has published six years of water quality and related research in Estero Bay; 3) the Ostego Bay Oil Spill Co-Op currently has fifty members in five counties providing training, education, equipment and volunteers to respond to oil spills.

“It’s a wonderful event,” said Semmer. “We have a great reception every year. For some people, it’s a tradition. A lot of people do their Christmas shopping there while supporting the foundation.”
