Church society sponsors food drive
The St. Vincent de Paul Society of the Church of the Ascension will be sponsoring a Food and Fund Drive this weekend, Saturday, Nov. 20, and Sunday, Nov. 22. Food and funds can be dropped off at the church between 4-5 p.m. Saturday, and 8-11 a.m. Sunday.
During these very difficult economic times, there is more people on the Beach that need servicing than ever before. The society provides assistance with rent, utility bills, medical expenses, transportation and food. To do this, it relies totally on donations of funds and food for the Food Bank which is housed at Chapel by the Sea.
The society is in particular need of cans of luncheon meat, corned beef, chicken, tuna fish, Vienna sausage, ham, beef stew, spaghetti and meatballs, fruit, granola bars and peanut butter. Please do not bring food that needs refrigeration.
