Police officers conduct routine traffic stops
Routine checkpoints was the reason given as to why there have been so many traffic stops on Estero Boulevard on Fort Myers Beach the past couple of days.
According to Sergeant Stephanie Eller with the Lee County Sheriff’s Department,
who called the traffic unit for an update, the stops are just part of a rovering enforcement.
“All I can ascertain is that they probably discovered yesterday that they needed more enforcement in that area,” she said. “They may have gone ahead and planned it that way. They could be seeing certain things like vehicles with lights out or a number of other different things. They do rovering enforcement spots in certain areas that are needed.”
