Ostego Bay offers fishing fleet tours

Ostego Bay Foundation will be offering its popular Tour of San Carlos Island’s Commercial Fishing Fleet beginning Wednesday, Oct 7.

This three-hour guided tour includes a 1 1/2 hour tour of the Marine Science Center and 1 1/2 hour tour of the $100 million commercial fishing industry, which includes Erickson & Jensen Supply House, Trico Shrimp Company and Beach Seafood.

Experience firsthand how the boats are unloaded, the trawl doors are built, the shrimp nets are hand-sewn, the seafood is processed and other important factors used in this unique industry.

A donation of $15 per adult and $10 per child is requested. Kids under 5 years old can tour for free.

Reservations are required. Call 765-8101 whether you are visiting, new to the area or just haven’t had a chance to visit the foundation before. Experience this exciting way to begin seeing our marine wonders firsthand.

Ostego Bay Foundation is a 501c(3) non-profit organization with the Marine Science Center providing interactive educational experiences for all. The touch tank and aquariums provide viewing of local marine life and the turtle and other exhibits help provide a personal understanding of the Southwest Florida marine environment.
