National Massage Therapy Awareness Week
National massage therapy awareness week is Oct. 25 through Oct. 31. This week is the time that licensed massage therapists, massage schools and associations would like to educate the public on the importance of massage therapy and its role in overall health and wellness.
Gindele Family Chiropractic, located at 1560 Matthew Dr. Suite I in Fort Myers, has an in-office massage therapist, Kim VanWinkle. Kim is an experienced medical massage therapist with 11 years experience utilizing St. John’s Neuromuscular Therapy, as well as myofacial release techniques and Dr Aaron Mattis’ AAIS, Active Assisted Isolated Stretching to restore structural balance to the muscular system, relieving pain. For the NMTA week we are offering $45 one hour massages. Most importantly, for the week of Oct 25 – 31st, Gindele Family Chiropractic and LMT Kim VanWinkle would like to give participating publications One Hour Therapeutic Massage Gift Certificates for each day next week (5) to give away in recognition of NMTAW.
Massage therapy is a regular co-management tool to the Chiropractic patients in the office; however non-chiropractic patients regularly enjoy the benefits of massage therapy in our office. According to Massagetoday.com, massage therapy is recognized as one of the oldest methods of healing, with references in medical texts nearly 4,000 years old. In fact, Hippocrates, known as the “father of medicine,” referenced massage when he wrote, in the 4th century B.C.: “The physician must be acquainted with many things, and assuredly with rubbing.” There are both physical and mental benefits and they may include:
