Doggy Dash seeks walkers for a good cause

2 min read

Lee County Domestic Animal Services is seeking interested animal lovers to participate in the Doggy Dash, a fund-raising effort to benefit the Animal Care Trust Fund. The Doggy Dash is being hosted by Miromar Outlets at 10108 Corkscrew Rd. in Estero on December 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Individuals may walk with their dog at the event or may form a team to walk with their pets. The possibilities for forming teams are virtually limitless. Any businesses such as banks, health clubs, hospitals, retail stores, and schools are only a few of the possibilities. Professional or social organizations are encouraged to form teams too as a fun way to advertise their group while supporting a good cause. Each walker will collect pledges from friends and associates prior to the event to sponsor their walk. All funds raised will support homeless pets in Lee County and assist the pets of disadvantaged owners who cannot afford to provide care.

“The Doggy Dash not only supports a good cause but will provide a rare opportunity for dog owners to have a day of fun with their pets,” says Bree Carlin, event co-chairman. Participants will window shop with their dogs during one of the season’s best holiday shopping weekends as they cruise the Doggy Dash walk route. More than 160 Miromar shops and restaurants plus pet-related vendors will be open for walkers and shoppers. Pet owners will want to have their pet’s photo taken with Santa, enter a Holiday Pet Costume Contest, and enjoy other activities as they listen to the musical sounds of the season.
