Coalition honors scholar-athletes
The Coalition for a Drug-Free Southwest Florida has announced this year’s nominees for the Al Oerter Trophy.
Beach resident Cathy Oerter, representing the Oerter family, will announce the winners and present the awards. These nominees have been recognized by their schools for:
Excellence in an individual sport
Excellence in academics
The highest level of personal character
A commitment to a drug-free lifestyle
The following student nominees will be honored: Mason Allen (Lehigh Senior High School); Danny Bonilla (Cypress Lake High School); Maycee Dioneda (Cypress Lake High School); Marcy Doerr (Dunbar High School); Trevor Dunn (Riverdale High School); Latisha Fields (Lehigh Senior High School); Darlene Hanlon (Ida S. Baker High School); Andrew Malszycki (South Fort Myers High School); Jimmy Martineau (Fort Myers High School); Erick Montoya (Estero High School); Stacy Nowicki (South Fort Myers High School); Caleb Michael Parker (Dunbar High School); Katie Russo (Fort Myers High School); Morgan Elizabeth Vickers (Riverdale High School); and Derek West (Ida S. Baker High School).
This event is part of the Coalition’s celebration of National Red Ribbon Week, which is celebrated throughout our Lee County School District with the support of our School Board, our Superintendent of Schools, and Safe and Drug-Free Schools. It is sponsored in part by Lee Memorial Health Center and the Alliance for the Arts. It is free and open to the public.
