Beach United Methodist women remember Saints
All women are welcome to attend the meeting of the Beach Unit of United Methodist Women at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, in the church’s Fellowship Hall. The opening meditation will honor memories of Phyllis Rieves, Sylvia Stonehouse, and Mary Lou Kirkham.
Hostesses Sallie Seabury and Madeline Sappah will welcome all women interested in a supportive community with a mission emphasis. One need not be a United Methodist in order to attend.
Guest speaker at Thursday’s program will be Roberta (Bert) Perry, community organizer for The United Farm Worker Ministry. “The food that overflows our market shelves and fills our tables is harvested by men, women, and children who often cannot satisfy their own hunger.” Perry will update information regarding justice issues and those working to bring fairness to those working in the fields.
During the business session conducted by Lisa Grinter, officers will be elected to serve the unit during 2010. The Nov. 5 meeting will adjourn no later than 11:30 a.m. To give or receive more information phone 463-9656 or 437-9790.
