1 min read

Through the hard work of teacher James Moss and administrators, South Fort Myers High School is the first high school in Lee County to earn the esteemed Automotive Service Excellence Certification through the National Automotive Technical Education Foundation. This process has taken Mr. Moss and his students four years to accomplish, and required the purchase of specific mechanical tools and a variety of processes had to be demonstrated and verified in order to earn this unique certification. Every five years this certification will be reevaluated.

Students in the Automotive Academy at South Fort Myers High School have the opportunity to learn automotive skills and earn one of eight automotive certifications. These certifications are earned through documented lab time and the passing of specific certification exams. By earning this certification, students are better prepared to enter the world of work upon graduation, if they so choose.

South Fort Myers High is one of three Comprehensive High Schools in Lee County, which offer specific instruction in a wide range of areas (i.e. Engineering & Manufacturing; business, finance, IT and Marketing; Medical & Biotechnical) in addition to the core curriculum.
