Local treatment center elects new board member

Fort Myers Attorney Scot D. Goldberg has been elected to the Board of Directors of Southwest Florida Addiction Services (SWFAS).

“We feel very fortunate to have Scot’s expertise on our Board of Directors,” said SWFAS CEO Kevin B. Lewis. “His knowledge and experience will help guide us, especially in determining where to focus our resources in the coming years, and how to best meet community needs.”

Goldberg is the founding partner of the law firm of Goldberg, Racila, D’Alessandro & Noone, LLC, where he practices personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice and criminal law. Prior to that, he was an associate attorney with the law firm of Goldstein, Buckley, Cechman, Rice & Purtz, P.A. He also served as an assistant state attorney with the State Attorney’s Office, 20th Judicial Circuit.

Goldberg also serves on the Boards of Directors of Quality of Life Center, Deaf Service Center and NAACP, Southwest Florida Chapter and is a volunteer driver for Meals On Wheels. In addition, he is a certified guardian ad litem and attorney ad litem for the Guardian Ad Litem program.

SWFAS is Southwest Florida’s most comprehensive substance abuse treatment and prevention program, operating from five offices throughout Lee and Hendry counties. Since 1980, SWFAS has helped more than 70,000 residents in Lee, Glades and Hendry counties rebuild their lives. SWFAS offers treatment services at all levels of intensity including residential, outpatient counseling, and group therapy. In addition, SWFAS provides detoxification services for adults, prevention programming for all ages, and an Employee Assistance Program for about 60 Southwest Florida businesses. SWFAS is a United Way agency.
