Pace, Bennett earn top public relations honors
Debra Webb and Dena Geraghty of the Lee PACE Center for Girls and Susan Bennett Marketing & Media earned three awards from the Florida Public Relations Association, including the Golden Image Award for the best institutional public relations program in Florida last year.
The Golden Image Award was presented for the Grande Dames Tea, which was presented by the PACE Center in March to honor three of our community’s most revered women: Berne Davis, Eleanore Kleist and Barbara B. Mann. The concept was created by Susan Bennett Marketing & Media, which also coordinated the event. The campaign also received a Judges’ Award for cost-effectiveness since sponsors paid for all of the event expenses.
The Lee PACE Center for Girls, Susan Bennett Marketing & Media, and NBC-2 also received a Judges’ Award for the DVD created of the Grande Dames Tea. The DVD was sold to attendees as well as members of the public to commemorate the occasion and raise additional funds for PACE. The DVD was produced by NBC-2 at no cost to the PACE Center.
The awards were presented for excellence in public relations at the 2009 Annual Golden Image Awards ceremony August 11 at the Boca Raton Resort & Club.
PACE is a Florida-based, not for profit organization, and the only statewide prevention program for adolescent at-risk girls in the nation. Its mission is to provide girls and young women an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy. The PACE Center for Girls is a non-residential delinquency prevention program targeting the unique needs of girls who are faced with challenges such as foster care, domestic violence and drug problems. Many girls also experience abuse and neglect, death of a parent, substance abuse, and/or a family history of incarceration. Since establishing the Lee County Center in 2007, PACE has helped more than 180 girls, ages 12 to 18, achieve success in school, with their families, in their careers, and in their communities
