Residents who recently attended the 12th Annual A Midsummer Night’s Sing at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Fort Myers opened their hearts and their wallets by contributing approximately 4,000 pounds of food to benefit The Soup Kitchen, operated by Community Cooperative Ministries.

Attendees also contributed more than $3,000 to help the charity, which serves more than 1,000 meals per day through The Soup Kitchen, Meals on Wheels and food programs for families in need. In addition, the agency provides transportation for the frail elderly and Montessori pre-school education for children from working poor families.

About 1,000 people attended the performance, sponsored by the Galloway Family of Dealerships.

The popular event featured performances by the Spiritual Voices, Teen Challenge, Pianist Barbara Peterson, Choral Director Rev. Roger Peterson, Soloist Beth Wininger, and the First Presbyterian Church Choir and Friends.
