Shell Point Guest House receives Green Lodging certification
The Guest House at Shell Point Retirement Community has been certified as a Florida Green Lodging facility by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. This designation is only awarded to hotels which are showing a concerted effort to be environmentally conscious.
The Guest House, which is owned by Shell Point Retirement Community, has been in operation at this location since the early 1970s and is open to the general public. The Guest House maintains a public record of its Green Lodging information which is available for inspection at the front desk.
“Shell Point is a very progressive community with a goal of leading the continuing care retirement industry in all aspects of service,” said Paul Yacovitch, Facility Operations Manager at Shell Point. “The Florida Green Lodging certification for the Guest House is a significant accomplishment in the pursuit of that goal, and serves as an example to Shell Point residents and guests alike that Shell Point takes every effort to ensure their comfort and enjoyment while doing our part to help the environment.
“The certification is part of a continuum of quality at the Guest House, and Shell Point as an organization, as we keep looking for better ways to ‘go green’ and conserve our natural resources while operating all facilities.”
The Shell Point Guest House features 39 rooms which are available for occupancy, as well as access to the community’s heated swimming pools, championship golf course, tennis courts, exercise facilities, and all of Shell Point’s dining venues. It provides high-quality, yet economical, accommodations to Shell Point visitors, guests, tourists, and other travelers in Southwest Florida. All rooms feature the standards that guests have come to expect, such as hair dryers, coffee makers, irons and ironing boards, voice messaging, and computer data ports.
