Man found dead in Gulf on Fort Myers Beach
A man was found dead in the Gulf of Mexico on Fort Myers Beach in the latter part of the afternoon Tuesday, according to FMB Fire District Public Information and Education Officer Ramon Looby.
“We received a 911 call around 4:40 p.m. yesterday afternoon, reporting someone possibly have a cardiac arrest or drowning on the beach behind Estero Beach Club at 2580 Estero Blvd,” he said “Fire fighters went to the scene and found a man who was in the water around 200 yards off the shoreline and facedown.
“Fire fighters then swam into the water to get to this individual. When they got to him, they gave him CPR but it was too late. He was showing signs that he was down to close to an hour.”
The cause of death is unclear at this time, according to the Beach Fire Department PIO.
The investigative part was then turned over to the the Sheriff’s Office and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation. It is expected there will be more news, such as the identity of the man, was once the family is notified and the investigation reveals more information.
