Electrical fire at base of Sky Bridge Wednesday night caused by downed line
The base of the Sky Bridge on San Carlos Island and all who live around it were rattled around 8:30 Wednesday night as an electrical fire sparked up near a mobile home park nearby.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Department and Fort Myers Beach Fire and Rescue crews were quick to respond to the scene, within minutes of the first spark.
Sheriff’s Deputy Todd Waits said the cause of the fire was a downed powerline.
No cause of the downed line was reported at the time of the incident, nor were any injuries.
“Everyone is okay,” Sheriff’s Deputy Waits said.
Power was restored to most of San Carlos Island and the surrounding areas within 40 minutes of the fire’s first ignition.
