50 Years and Still Growing”

Many events are planned this December by the Garden Club to help bring in this

holiday season. These events are open to everyone and is an opportunity to join others with the same interests.

Estero Island Garden Club members, Marianne Worden, Ginny Testa and Burnadett Humera will be doing a garden program for Mrs. Pam Flowers' first graders at the Beach Elementary School on December 3rd at 1:30PM. Two stories will be read and then each child will receive a baby spider plant to take home. This program is being held to celebrate the Garden Club's 50th Anniversary.

December 6 at 7:00a.m., come meet at the library and help decorate our town with holiday plants. At 6:00p.m. on the same day, there will be a Christmas Lighting at the Gazebo near Snug Harbor. The Garden Club's president, Laura Jibbin, will help kick off this event.

Another Garden Club program for the school will be done on January 16th,

Florida's Arbor Day. On this occasion the school will be presented a Gumbo

Limbo tree by the Garden Club to be planted on the grounds for the children

to enjoy for years to come. The Town of Fort Myers Beach and the Garden Club

are selling trees in celebration of Arbor Day – January 16, 2009. This could

be a “perfect Christmas gift!”. Information can be viewed at fortmyersbeachfl.gov – the town's website.
