Beach Kiwanis learn about children’s advocacy services

Children’s Advocacy Center started in 1981 to provide services to abused and neglected children.
The Children’s Advocacy Center’s mission is to advocate for a healthy, safe community for children through a multidisciplinary team approach, Boyer said.
“Our goal is to gain exposure in the community, help victims to heal, act as a link for other services and resources available and continue to provide services to victims of child abuse and its resulting complications,” he said. “A child should be provided with a safe and healthy home environment within an educated community.”
Through programs offered at CAC on nurturing and parenting skills, he said, families will learn how to deal with the everyday stresses we all face.
Presentations are available for anyone interested in learning more about child abuse and child abuse prevention.
Boyer said with the retention of current funding and a successful donor program, the agency hopes to maintain and enhance current programs and expand its prevention programs by exposing children in at risk neighborhoods to pregnancy prevention, substance abuse prevention, tutoring and homework assistance to upgrade their educational and social skills by introducing them to a better way and directing them to a safer and more successful path.
Our successful strategy will promote and encourage the community to become more involved and educated and be more aware of potential triggers for child abuse and take ownership in making their community a safer place for kids.
