Mahjong club shows some tiles
The Purple Dragon Mahjong Club that plays at the Island Plaza Shopping Center, 15675-1 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers, is having the following events open to the public.
Beginner mahjong classes to learn this ancient Chinese game will be held on Monday and Thursday afternoons, from 1 to 3 p.m.The cost is $15 per class.
Refresher classes. If you have been playing for a little while and want to improve your level of play or learn some strategies and skills, this is the class for you. They are be held Monday and Thursday afternoons, 1 to 3 p.m. The cost is $15 per class.
Mahjong tournament. For the mahjong player who enjoys competition and challenge and would like to play mah jongg with people from all over Florida, join the group for the mahjong weekend tournament Jan. 23, 24, and 25.

Local camera club meetings

Movin’ On exercise course
“Movin’ On: Exercise and Movement for Breast Cancer Survivors,” a new exercise program for breast cancer survivors, will be offered at no charge in Fort Myers until Saturday, Dec. 13, and in Naples until Tuesday, Dec. 9. Downtown Naples art fair
The Downtown Naples New Year’s Weekend Art Fair returns for its 13th anniversary Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 27 and Dec. 28 on 5th Avenue South, downtown Naples.
The Downtown Naples New Year’s Weekend Art Fair is ranked one of the top festivals in the country Admission and is free and open to the public.
This two-day event brings together 300 of the nation’s most talented artists who will collectively display more than $15 million in artwork. The artists were juried by an independent panel of expert judges, and hand-selected from hundreds of applicants based on quality and diversity. All of their artwork is original and handmade.
With its casual outdoor setting, the Downtown Naples Art Fair makes the arts accessible to a broad audience. Prices range from $25 hand-designed earrings to $20,000 metal sculptures. The event appeals to family and friends as a free and fun weekend activity, as well as serious art buyers looking to add to their collections.
Festival hours are Saturday, Dec. 27, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 28, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
