Breakfast on the beach might be a rare commodity in most parts of the country, but the Island Pancake House has a new owner and he wants to show visitors and locals alike what he can do.

“I want to give the Beach a great breakfast option and put some home spins on it,” Robert Morrill said.

Originally from Chicago, he spent a lot of time around Fort Myers Beach as a kid, working at Charley Brown’s as a meat cutter when he was 17 (Which is now Charley’s BoatHouse Grille).

With a lunch menu that includes made-from-scratch gravy and soups, along with chili made fresh daily, he’s looking to invigorate the food scene.

“Fresh ingredients are my first concern. I always get the freshest, most readily available meats and produce, so I can give the Beach the best,” Morrill said.

He also develops daily specials – which will turn into weekly specials if they see enough popularity -? that are items he comes up with after a bit of culinary research. Mixed hash one day, a griddle breakfast the next, he plans on customizing the menu to what prove to be favorites.

“I want to be a pillar in this community. I’ve seen how it can raise people up and how everyone looks out for everyone, and I want to do my part in that,” Morrill said.

With charitable interests in beach cleanup especially, he wants to give back to the community that has given him the opportunity to serve them.

A grand reopening is planned on Sept. 18, once the logistics are worked out and he gets some of the nuts and bolts fixed up and running.

“I want this place to have a fresh look, and I need to show people what breakfast can be without paying an arm and a leg,” Morrill said.

With plans on expanding the lunch menu to include seafood options, and possibly breakfast as well, The Island Pancake House is on its new way to food superiority with a side of doing good in the community.

The current hours are 8 a.m. To 2 p.m. during the summer months, but are likely to change in the future.

Island Pancake House is at 2801 unit P, Estero Blvd, Fort Myers Beach. 239-233-8188.
