Salty Crab Bar & Grill holds Rum Bucket Fundraiser through May
The Salty Crab Bar & Grill is raising money for the Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida with a Rum Bucket Fundraiser through May 31.
The Salty Crab Bar & Grill marketing coordinator Jamie McElhone said the fundraiser, which is now in its fourth year, started on March 1.
“For every rum bucket sold, a dollar is donated to Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida,” she said.
In three years $21,500 has been donated to the hospital through the fundraiser. This year, the goal is $15,000.
The first year, $5,000 was raised, followed by $10,000 the second and $7,500 last year.
“We want to bump it back up to $15,000 this year,” McElhone said. “We depend on them (the community) for their support. It’s a great cause.”
The Rum Bucket Fundraiser is run all day long every day. The little bucket, which can be kept as a souvenir, is $12 Monday through Friday and $10 on Saturdays and Sundays.
Golisano Children’s Hospital was chosen as the beneficiary because Salty Crab Bar & Grill was looking for a cause that had an impact on the community.
“They are a huge component of the community and obviously very important to us,” McElhone said.
The business has partnered with the hospital in the past through numerous different sponsorships.
“It’s a great partnership. We really enjoy working with them. It has been a great avenue to connect with in the community,” she said.
The Salty Crab Bar & Grill is at 1154 Estero Blvd., Fort Myers Beach.
