Join the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce tomorrow for their April 2019 Business After Hours, as well as the Roar Offshore Kick-Off, at Coste Island Cuisine.

The After Hours will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 18, at Diamonhead Beach Resort & Spa, 2000 Estero Blvd.

Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce President Jacki Liszak said the event organizers of the Roar Offshore Powerboat Races, which will take place on Fort Myers Beach Columbus Day weekend, Oct. 10 through Oct. 12, will be in attendance to talk about the event.

Complimentary appetizers and a cash bar with happy hour priced drinks will be provided for those who attend.

Attendance is free and open to the public.

“Since it’s a national championship, it’s a big deal. From here they go onto the worlds,” Liszak said of the Roar Offshore Powerboat races. “We will be looking for volunteers, sponsors and working with all of our accommodations, restaurants and retail shops to make sure everybody gets involved.”

She encourages those who would like to get involved visit the Facebook page www.facebook.com/RoarOffshore FortMyersBeach, or call the Chamber of Commerce at (239) 454-7500.

The last Roar Offshore Powerboat Races took place in 2006 on Fort Myers Beach.

She said they are expecting more than 50 teams of race boats and in the neighborhood of 70,000 to 75,000 people.

On Thursday, Oct. 10, Liszak said they will have a street party, complete with a boat parade and the opportunity for the community to meet the teams.
