Surf Club changes hands in ownership

After a several-decade run, Surf Club owner and founder Bruce Cermak is passing the award-winning torch to new owners, who take over Friday. As a way of showing their love and support of this local humanitarian, the staff of the Surf Club is hosting a very special party in Bruce’s honor this evening, beginning at 4 p.m. and going into the night.
Enjoy live music from Habitat for Harmony while bumping elbows with friends and island family, laughing and sharing great Surf Club stories.
“My wish for Bruce is to be happy and go to France for vacation,” said Surf Club bartender Kimber. “All of his friends are going to get together tonight and have a good time with him. Everyone, come on out!”
Jes Miles, another popular Surf Club bartender, is eager to send Bruce some very well-wishes, as well. “I wish him a good retirement, to relax and take a vacation he so well deserves!” she said.
The Surf Club is at 1167 Estero Blvd., has been at its current location for the last five years, and a staple watering hole and eatery on Fort Myers Beach for the last 30-plus years.
