Town seeks Citizens of Distinction nominations
The Town of Fort Myers Beach is currently seeking Citizens of Distinction awards candidates for its Fort Myers Beach Citizen Recognition Program.
The Citizens of Distinction Awards are designed to recognize, on an annual basis, outstanding citizens, groups, organizations or businesses that have brought credit to our Town.
All nominations received by Dec. 15 are eligible for awards in February of the following year. Nomination forms and complete Citizens of Distinction Awards categories and criteria are available at Town Hall or on its website at fortmyersbeachfl.gov under “For Islanders.”
– Awards may be granted in each of the following categories:
1. Arts and Culture Recognition
2. Athletic Achievement
3. Beach Heritage
4. Youth Award of Merit
5. Mayor’s Special Award
At the direction of Town Council, the Community Resource Advisory Board reviewed the Recognition Program and brought recommendations to the Town Council. On Aug. 15, 2011, the Town Council of Fort Myers Beach adopted resolution 11-12, Citizens of Distinction Awards.
