Tropical Storm Debbie severely strains blood supply
Blood donations are needed immediately.
The continuous rain and storms from Tropical Storm Debbie churning in the Gulf are critically impacting the area’s blood supply. All blood types are needed, especially O negative, which is the universal blood type and used to treat trauma patients and premature babies. Residents are strongly urged to donate as soon as possible.
Florida’s Blood Centers must keep local hospitals supplied with life-supporting blood during and after the storm. Donations are needed immediately and all residents can make an appointment, walk into any branch location or onto a Big Red Bus to make a donation.
Residents can donate at any Florida’s Blood Centers location or on any Big Red Bus. Call toll free (1-888-9DONATE) for more information or to make an appointment.
If you don’t know your blood type, the best way to find out is to donate blood!
