Kiwanis host parish nurse at meeting
The FMB Kiwanis held their weekly meeting on Feb. 3, 2012 at Saint Raphael’s Church. Twenty-three Kiwanis were in attendance, two associates and three guests. President Bill Pearson introduced our speaker Sheila Moralen who is a parish nurse at Chapel By The Sea. Parish nurses can help others who are not members of other churches and other Churches have Parish Nurses. The primary purpose of a parish nurse is:
1.Health Counselors; supplying one on one counseling to those in need.
2.Supply education, which includes lectures and classes. Holistic healing is incorporated on a mental, emotional, social, and spiritual level.
3.Advocates; navigating others through the health care system.
4. Liaison; connecting agencies to provide services for individuals in need.
5.Trainer of Volunteers
6.Healers; vacillating a holistic approach to healing of the body, mind and spirit through presence, listening and prayer.
Many people in a community are helped by the efforts of a parish nurse.
