Lee County Sports Authority offers events
Two major sporting events next month will bring young people and their parents from all over the United States to Lee County for an entire month of economic impact – from room nights to dining and attractions.
Perfect Game’s Baseball Championship Series will attract more than 200 high school baseball teams, as well as college and professional baseball scouts, to the area from July 2-22. Competition is set for ball fields throughout the county, including Lee County Sports Complex, City of Palms Park, Terry Park and several high school fields.
Secondly, 350 to 400 teams are expected to play in the North American Roller Hockey Championships July 15-30 at Germain Arena.
Combined, the events will draw about 600 teams and their families for average stays of about a week, meaning visitors will be looking for activities during their stay. The Lee County Sports Authority is asking local attractions to provide information about their offerings that can be relayed to participants and their families.
The Sports Authority is gathering informational flyers and promotional materials for a display table. Interested attractions are encouraged to call the Sports Authority at 344-5201 or email jmielke@leegov.com.
